The events take place on Friday 28th and Saturday 29th October 2011 and gets bigger and better each year. So what can you expect? To be terrified out of your wits of course! You’ll meet ghosts and ghouls up close but be massively entertained.
In town, the streets will be teeming with scary creatures who will try to catch you unawares as you make your way past the shops and houses. Be sure to stop and visit the Dentist for a truly haunting treatment, you will be filled with horror not fillings! At the Masonic Hall you can try to mummify a family member, but be sure to seek their permission first. This will be something to tell your colleagues at work afterwards. Then you must summon the courage to visit the graveyard, I don’t think you will need any description of what will happen here suffice to mention zombies! The rest I leave up to your imagination.
Next, if you are not too scared, you can make your way to the Pit Village where the Chapel will draw you in with haunting music… but played by whom? Here there will be the chance to try the traditional “dooking” for apples, great fun for all from the youngster who does not care less about diving their head under the water to granddad trying to hold on to his dignity and his false teeth. Then try your hand at Splat the Rat which always looks easier than it actually is. A visit to the school will release your creative side, there will be lots of opportunities to make things and try things out. All the youngsters in your party will jump at the opportunity to try ‘trick or treating’ with a difference at the pit cottages after they have had their faces appropriately painted. The ice rink is also good fun; where have you ever come across a haunted skating rink?
Finally tired and terrified, with a comforting mug of pumpkin soup in hand, you can sit and listen to some ghostly tales, told by a professional story teller.
What a fantastic experience, and what better than to seek out the delights of the region the next day? Whether shopping or visiting attractions is your cup of tea, you will be well satisfied.
